The scintillating orchestra
played to the rhythm of percussion instruments takes the congregation
to such ecstatic heights that they feel the presence of lord Krishna,
the Divine flute player. The Panchavadyam of the ‘Madathil Varavu’
and the ‘Elanjithara Melom’ continue to be unique in their
concept and performance.
Pooram
in a nutshell is the paying obeisance of the deities of Thiruvambady
and Paramelkavu along with deities of suburban temples to Lord Vadakkunnathan.
The whole exercise is done with the accompaniment of various types
of temple orchestra.
At 11.30 a.m. Thiruvambadi starts Madathil
Varavu, glorified by bands in immortal verse. The town is slowly
turning into an ocean of humanity. The sweltering heat of the torrid
sun makes the weather a meteorological purgatory. But the surging
crowd, moves about in a jubilant mood, as a celestial scintillating
show of percussion orchestra is in the offing. Madathil Varavu is
glorified by Panchavadyam.
When the procession reaches Naikanal, it moves
southward to Sree mulasthanam at 3 pm. accompanied by Pandimelom,
the artists sweating for a couple of hours to produce divine symphony.
Meanwhile at 1 pm. Paramelkavu Devi had started
her glinting and glorious procession from her abode, with an unrivalled
group of drum orchestra.
The whole event of Kudamattom is played
in the rhythm to the traditional orchestra Pandimelom.
