AT 3AM fireworks begin with a bang. As the crackers are fired, nearly for fifteen minutes all eyes are astounded, and ears deafened at the terrific din and light-produced by the "GUNDUS", and dynamites piercing the stratosphere, chorusing the crackers. Gaining momentum, second after second it progresses, with a multitude of light and clamor finally roaring into a shattering climax. After the crackers of both sides are over, hundreds of multi-coloured Bouts, Golden rains, Silver rains, fiery blossoms, titanic pinwheels etc, decorate the sky for full two hours.

At 7AM the two parties line their fifteen elephants on either side and proceed towards the Sreemoolasthanam where the drumming concerts go on until 11.30 AM. As the orchestra relinquishes the two deities on elephants meet face to face, bid farewell, pay respects to Vadkunathan and leave to their respective abodes on solitary elephants.

The Pooram crowds dissipate with their vision ensorcelled by the glitter and colour of the pageant and with ears reverberating with the rolling of drums and din of fire works. They leave deciding to come next year too, for "it is the majestic festival of festivals which even gods would like to watch with bewitched eyes."

Thrissur Pooram is the harbinger of ‘Vedikkettu’ (fireworks). People throng in massive proportion to experience the excitement of fireworks competition. Fireworks itself is a feast of colour and clamour. Every year new formulae add the grandeur of pooram and these innovative methods are meticulously emulated in the other temple /Church festivals. It is in Thrissur Pooram that neo pyrotechniques are adopted to enthrall the mesmerized crowd. Other temples of Kerala, virtually take a leaf or two when their turn comes to celebrate.

Some classic innovations applied first time in Pooram.

Colour tablets. Were made and used to make ‘Amits ’
Lightning was introduced and later aluminum powder along with magnesium is used.
‘Side Amits’ and ‘lightning gundus’ are the findings of pooram.
In a unique way, when an amit exploded, the picture of Gandhiji spinning charka was shown first time in a fireworks display.
The previous day, there is a mini fireworks display by both sides, which they call sample (trial) fireworks.
